Du Toit's Mobile Auto (Pty) Ltd

We hired Du Toits Mobile Auto to diagnose my sister’s vehicle and paid a substantial deposit to begin the repairs. From that point onwards, communication became increasingly difficult. The mechanic stopped answering calls for an extended period and later claimed he had been hijacked, but there were still repeated delays before he returned to work on the vehicle. After opening the engine, we were told that the timing belt had failed. We were then informed that a lot of additional work would be required, which significantly increased the cost of the repair. Before agreeing to any further work, we simply asked for photos of the replacement parts and invoices showing what had been purchased. Despite asking multiple times, the mechanic refused to provide any invoices. He was also very reluctant to bring the parts to us and only did so after repeated requests. Even then, no proof of purchase was provided. The parts supplied included WIX filters, NGK spark plugs, Bremi ignition components and a FilterPro cabin filter, but without invoices or receipts there was no way for us to verify what had actually been purchased or what we were being charged for. Looking through previous reviews, it was concerning to see that other customers have reported experiences involving changing diagnoses, escalating repair costs, poor communication and disputes over repairs. While every situation is different, our experience unfortunately reflected many of those same concerns. Based on our experience, I strongly recommend that anyone considering this company insists on a detailed written quotation, requests invoices for all parts before making further payments, and keeps all communication in writing. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this business.

ust had my Polo serviced and I'm really impressed with the experience. The service team was professional and efficient – they completed the work on time and even gave my car a thorough wash and interior clean as a courtesy . The workshop was clean, the staff were friendly, and they kept me updated throughout the process. I was offered a courtesy car and complimentary refreshments while I waited, which made the whole thing stress-free . The technicians clearly know these cars inside out – my Polo has always been a solid, well-built car, and it's good to know it's being looked after by people who understand it . Highly recommend!
